Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor Sergio Bertocchi, of the clergy of the Diocese of Bergamo, as Head of the Office of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches.
Monsignor Sergio Bertocchi was born on July 26, 1960 and has been a priest of the Diocese of Bergamo since 1996. He holds a Licentiate in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2001-2004), and a Master's degree in International Business Administration from St. John's University (2008-2010).
He has experience as Treasurer, Parish Administrator and Procurator, Parish Priest, Person in Charge of Economic Support of the Church in the Diocese of Bergamo (2013-2022), Director of the Administrative Office of the same Diocese (2011-2022), as well as a member of several Administrative Boards of various Diocesan bodies.
On November 7, 2024, the Holy Father appointed him as Head of the Office in the Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches.
