Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Jackson Murugara, I.M.C, until now parish priest and rector of the Consolata Shrine in the archdiocese of Nairobi, as coadjutor bishop of Meru, Kenya.
Msgr. Jackson Murugara, I.M.C., was born on 7 April 1970 in Kamanyaki, County of Tharaka-Nithi, in the diocese of Meru. After entering the Institute of the Consolata Missionaries, he completed his studies in philosophy at the Consolata Institute of Philosophy in Nairobi, and in theology at the Missionary Institute of London.
He gave his religious vows on 18 November 2000 and was ordained a priest on 15 August 2001, in the diocese of Meru.
After ordination, he held the roles of collaborator in the parishes of Kagaene and Mujwa, in the diocese of Meru (2001-2002), parish vicar of Chiga, in the archdiocese of Kisumu (2002-2003), and formator of postulants at the Consolata Seminary of Nairobi (2003-2009), He was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality “Teresianum” in Rome (2011), and went on to serve as director of the Bethany House and Charity Home pastoral centres in the diocese of Muranga (2011-2018). Since 2018 he has been parish priest and rector of the Consolata Shrine in the archdiocese of Nairobi. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 16/1/2025)
