ASIA/INDIA - Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Visakhapatnam

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Udumala Bala Showreddy of Warangal as archbishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Visakhapatnam, India.
Archbishop-elect Udumala Bala Showreddy was born on 18 June 1954 in Gudur.
He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Warangal on 20 February 1979, and appointed bishop of the same diocese on 13 April 2013, receiving episcopal consecration the following 23 May.
From September 2022 to 9 April 2024 he served as apostolic administrator of Khammam. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 8/2/2025)
